A big congratulations to our scholarship and art contest winners!

Every year the Sherwood Saturday Market offers Sherwood and Newberg area students the opportunity to apply for a $1000 scholarship in the categories of both art and agriculture.  This is our way of giving back to the community that we love and continue the tradition of community support. The students applying must show a background of strong community support with an intent to further his or her career in agriculture or an art related field.  The students must then submit a goal essay.

This year, as in many past, the choice was tough, all of the students were very deserving.
Market manager and president Erin Harrington presented the awards to the students chosen by the board.

The FFA $1000 scholarship was awarded to :
Emily Sandberg

The Art/Craft $1000 scholarship was awarded to:
Erin Hubbard

The Market also hold an annual art contest.  Students are encouraged to enter a drawing based on that years theme.  This years was "eat fresh, shop local".  The board votes on the top artwork for elementary age, grade school and high school categories and then a top winner of which we use as our artwork for the year on promotions and postcards.

The winners of the art contest were:

1-5th grade: Pearson
 6-8th grade:  Morgin
9-12th grade: Rachel

Overall winner: Rachel with her beautiful water color of fruits and veggies.

Congrats to all of our winners!
